About

Vision

To foster a unique, diverse, and vibrant downtown business community.

Mission

We commit to working together with our businesses, landlords, organizations, and governments to support a thriving downtown that is a fun place to live, work and discover for everyone.

What is a BIA (Business Improvement Area)?

The purpose of a BIA is to undertake programs and initiatives for:

  • Beautification & Aesthetic Improvement

  • Local Business & Event Promotion

  • Economic Stimulation

  • Community Support

Established in 1997, the Downtown Duncan BIA (DDBIA) is a non-profit organization under the direction of an elected volunteer Board of Directors. Every business within the defined boundary is automatically a member. Funding is collected through a special levy enacted through a municipal property tax bylaw. The cost of the levy contributed is based on each property's commercial assessment as determined by the BC Assessment Authority.
